    Albrecht's father was a goldsmith and the young Albrecht naturally became his apprentice, learning the art of shaping and engraving jewellery. Albrecht served a double apprenticeship: shortly after becoming an apprentice goldsmith, he started working and studying art with a local artist, Wolgemut, who specialised in artistic woodcuts for books. The book, titled De Arte Predicandi (), is possibly one of his best-known works from this period.
